He Said … She Said

I’m always a little horrified when I work with clients who, in preparation for our first meeting, decided to “clean up” their email sent folder.
My take has always been that you should AT LEAST save every single sent message as a record of your communication with others, if not EVERY single message period (minus spam of course). Of course, that’s so long as you have enough space to store it (which most of us do nowadays).
That way, there’s never any question about exactly what was said – it’s one of the beauties of email, its supper easy to log a communication trail. It also makes it easy to clears up situations like one I once had, in which someone told me they never received my message about asking for a reschedule. Read more
Instant Messenger … A Weapon of Mass Distraction!

If you had a coworker who constantly barged into your office, and started blabbering on and on every time you were right in the middle of something important … I’d tell you its time to give him or her the finger (see it’s ok to give people the finger at work).
By neglecting to manage your status in your instant messaging application, you’re just begging to be interrupted.
Confessions of a Chaos Whisperer

So here’s the deal … I’m starting this blog as a resource for my clients and anyone else interested in finding tips, tools, and information on personal productivity and organization.
It occurred to me that since I’ve be a professional productivity coach/consultant since 1999 it’s finally about time I start sharing, don’t you think? Hey, some of us our slow on the uptake. If all goes right this blog should be a helpful resource full of the tips and tricks I’ve picked up along the way.
My goal is to post a daily “Productivity Tip of the Day” Monday through Friday. I’m crazy to take on such a big responsibility, but here we go! The posts will range on issues form email strategies, prioritization, file management, Outlook, space optimization, product reviews, etc. If you would like to receive updates via email, please sign up in the box to the right or at the bottom of this post.
I’d also appreciate your comments, questions, and/or additional tips in the comment section.
One of my deepest held beliefs is that your life should always be bigger than yourself. So if you find the information useful, and are so inclined, please check out this page with links to charities I support and consider making a donation. You can also check out www.charitynavigator.org to find other worthwhile causes to support.
So here’s the skinny on me. First of all, I can’t type or spell worth a crap, so please forgive any typos in advance (although I’ll do my very best).
Also, I’m not at all “anal” about organization, and I don’t consider myself to be a “naturally” organized person. I hope that’s a sigh of relief for most of you. However, I have learned that life is more enjoyable, and that I think more clearly when I implement simple proven strategies for organizing my work and life. Not to mention, I sleep better at night not worrying about what I might have forgotten or missed.
Enjoy the site!
